As a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to bridge the growing urban-rural divide, the State Bank of India is offering ‘Youth for India,’ a fellowship to provide a platform for young minds to work on rural development projects of reputed partner non-governmental organisations.
The objective of the programme, according to a release from Geeta Verghese, Coordinator, SBI Youth for India, is to touch lives and create positive change at the grass root level in rural India. The partner NGOs of the programme include Barefoot College, Gram Vikas, Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India), BAIF Development Research Foundation, Seva Mandir, Dhan Foundation and Chirag.
The 13-month-long fellowship is structured to allow fellows the freedom to work on any aspect of rural development and give an opportunity to implement their own ideas for social change.

They can either work on an existing project of a partner NGO or implement a new idea to augment the work of the NGO.
The existing fellows are from premier institutions such as the IIT, IIM, NID, NIFT, BITS Pilani and foreign universities.
The last date for applying for the fellowship is June 10. Applications will be shortlisted on June 13.
