Rain lashes Kanyakumari

Waterlogging in low-lying areas

Rain lashed various parts of Kanyakumari district for the third day on Tuesday, bringing cheers to the people from all walks of life. Several parts of the district experienced rain on Sunday evening, and the rain continued till Monday afternoon.

After a lull, the rain started on Monday night and continued till Tuesday afternoon. The continuous rain resulted in waterlogging of low-lying areas in urban and rural areas. Vehicle users found it difficult to move on Vettoornimadam Road from WCC College, as the road which was dug up for underground work has not yet been relaid.

Rainfall recorded at various places till 8 a.m. on Tuesday was (in mm): Mullanginavilai 36, Colachel 23, Tirparappu 22.2, Nagercoil 19.4, Surulode 16.4, Balamore 11.6, Anaikidangu 9, Eraniel and Mylaudi 8.4 each, Kottaram 8.2, Adayamadai 8, Boothapandi 5.5, Perunchani 3.4, Pechiparai 2.2 and Aralvoimozhi 2.
