Quality award for TCE

In recognition of its value-based leadership

Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) here has been awarded IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award for 2014 in the field of education.

The college was chosen for the award in recognition of its value-based leadership reflecting quality education at affordable cost; faculty empowerment; student engagement; effective quality systems and technology-based sustainable development initiatives like laying roads using waste plastic.

The award, instituted by the Indian Merchants Chamber and Ramkrishna Bajaj Trust, encourages Indian organisations to adopt a programme excellence model to bring in improvements and showcase best practices.

The TCE, according to a press release, was chosen for the award by a panel of judges headed by S. Ramadorai, Chairman, National Skill Development Agency.

Former world chess champion Viswanathan Anand presented the award to a team from the TCE, led by Principal V. Abhaikumar, at a function in Mumbai recently.

The college also won the best practices competition in the education category held prior to the award function.
