Publish socially relevant research works: VC

Prof N. Rajendran, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University, has exhorted faculty members and researchers to publish socially relevant research works and get into Scopus-indexed journals for the benefit of scholars across the nation and the world.

Addressing the valedictory function of the two-day international workshop on ‘Biomedical Applications in Translational Research (BATR-2019), organised by the Department of Biomedical Sciences in association with Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary, here on Monday, he said it had become imperative for higher institutions to enhance quality in every aspect of academia in the current global educational scenario.

Ranking was given based on quality research, effective teaching, and extension work useful to the society and industry, he said and exhorted the faculty and researchers to publish the outcome of socially relevant research works and help scholars to focus on further innovative research works.

Prof S. Ravikumar, convener of the workshop, said the objective of the workshop was to provide a forum for scholars to highlight their research findings and help the participants learn about the recent trends in Biomedical Sciences which helped to develop new treatments and therapies to cure diseases and overcome disabilities.

Prof G. Archunan, Emeritus Professor, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi, said translation of research works was essential to the modern world. Seven eminent scholars from India and abroad, including from Finland, Singapore and Hungary, addressed four plenary sessions on various topics.

In all, 246 participants from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and one scholar from Zhejiang University, China attended the workshop.
