The district administration has clamped prohibitory order in Usilampatti from Thursday evening to Saturday evening in view of the death anniversary of Forward Bloc leader Mookiah Thevar on Friday.

The order promulgated under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code banned the movement of volunteers in all kinds of hired vehicles towards Usilampatti and also the movement of more than three vehicles in a convoy.

Collector L. Subramanian issued the order following recommendations made by revenue and police officials. The police feared that movement of people belonging to Mukkulathor community through the villages dominated by Adi Dravidars might trigger law and order problem. Forward Bloc cadre from nearby districts visit Usilampatti to offer their respects to the leader.
