The annual mustering of pensioners began at the District Treasury Office (DTO) here on Monday.
Collector U. Sagayam inaugurated online recording of pensioners' details. For the first time, with the association of National Informatics Centre (NIC), photographs of pensioners would be uploaded using a web camera. Hence, pensioners can come to the Collector's office only with their pension books. After feeding the basic data, it would enable the treasury officials record the details of pensioners, which would remain valid for the next 12 months.
District Treasury Officer K. S. Muthupandian said that there were 31,000 pensioners with the DTO and another 7,000 received pension through sub-treasury offices at Melur, Usilampatti, Vadipatti, Tirumangalam among other places. It was mandatory for pensioners to appear in person once a year before the officials as the pension gets credited every month in their accounts directly.

Till June 29
The online recording of pensioners' data, first time being introduced in the district, would go on till June 29. Pensioners must to make use of it. Failure to appear or absence from personal appearance would mean removal of names from the records and the August pension may not get credited in their bank account, he said.
