Olympus Granites moves court to quash summons

S. Nagarajan, former director of Olympus Granites, has filed a writ at the Madras High Court bench here to quash summons issued by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Prohibition and Enforcement Wing), calling him for interrogation in the multi-crore granite quarrying scam.

According to the petitioner, the DSP had issued at least 10 summons until April 10, 2013. In his writ, Mr. Nagarajan claimed that the DSP abused him in a ‘filthy language’ during the interrogations and forced him to sign a statement to implicate the son of a former Union minister, who was also a former director of the firm, and his family in the case.

He moved the court challenging fresh summons issued under Sections 160 and 91 of Cr.P.c directing him to be present before the DSP for interrogation.

“The DSP is trying to implicate the person (son of former Union minister) with an oblique motive at the instance of vested interests. The impugned summons was issued with

mala fide intention and political motive and there is no fair investigation by the police,” he contended while seeking to quash the summons.Justice D. Hariparanthaman, on Wednesday, heard the contentions of the petitioner’s counsel and adjourned the case to April 23.
