Preparations for the smooth conduct of local body polls scheduled for October has commenced in the district with the officials actively cross-checking the voters' list that was used in the Assembly polls held in last May with the ward-wise voters' list.

Since the district having ten Assembly constituencies with 425 village panchayats, 26 district panchayat wards, 19 panchayat unions, 36 town panchayats, 7 municipalities and a corporation had prepared the electors' list for the Assembly polls held in May last, the revenue officials are now preparing the voters' list to be used in the local body polls.

They cross-check the ward-wise voters' list prepared by them with the one used in the Assembly polls so that any necessary exclusion or inclusion of voters can be effected.

In a camp held at the Collectorate on Friday, the revenue officials assigned for this job, verified the voters' lists so as to be ready with an error-free electoral rolls for the civic polls.

“Those who have completed the age of 18 may include their names in the voters' list by submitting properly filled-in prescribed application form with relevant documents and those who are yet to get their photo electors' identity card may also get it from the taluk offices concerned by submitting the documents required,” said a revenue official involved in this exercise.
