Collector Anshul Mishra disbursed assistance worth Rs. 7.43 lakh and 40 grams of gold to beneficiaries of various government welfare and social security schemes at the Collectorate here on Monday.
He also gave away house title deeds to 59 families who had voluntarily vacated the land they had encroached in Madurai South. Besides issuing an order to give Rs. 1,000 as assistance to three destitute widows from Vadipatti block, he also gave away cheques of Rs. 8,000 each to 30 poor artisans.
He also disbursed assistance under various other welfare schemes.

Also, a sum of Rs. 500 was presented on behalf of the District Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department to a beneficiary for buying spectacles.
Further, after a gap of two to three months for the semester examinations, volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) were again seen at the Collectorate helping out the differently abled and senior citizens who had come to attend the weekly grievance rederessal meeting chaired by the Collector.
Besides helping the differently abled to reach the hall by bring them in wheel chairs, the volunteers also aided senior citizens and others to fill forms.

R. P. Ravindran, District Revenue Officer; M. Prabakar, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA); and R. Rajaram, Special Deputy Collector (Social Security Scheme), took part in the meeting along with other officials.
