The Lakshmi Seva Sangam (LSS), a Siddha medicine manufacturing unit of Gandhigram Trust has launched another cent per cent natural face cream Kungumathi Lepam to compete with multinational companies in the rapidly growing beauty products' market.
The cream contains skin friendly natural ingredients and no chemicals have been used. Launching the product at the Children's Home on the trust campus at Gandhigram near here on Thursday, Alagappa University Vice-Chancellor S. Sudalaimuthu said that the LSS has come out with Kungumathi Lepam, an ayurvedic fairness cream and the main ingredients are turmeric, kovaikizhangu, vettiver, manjishti, saffron and sandal oil.
From time memorial, consumers, particularly, Tamil people know the value of these herbs as their ancestors used them widely in one form or the other. Now the LSS has scientifically blended all these herbs to produce this face cream. This new product will be the answer for many women who hesitate to use chemical-based face cream because of the side effects, he added.

LSS-varsity collaboration:
The Algappa University will collaborate with the LSS to scientifically validate and prove its worth. This offer was not only for testing this product but also for other products manufacture by the Siddha unit, he pointed out.
Trust Secretary K. Shiva Kumar, who accompanied him, said, “Kumkumadi lepam is an age old ayurveda remedy for acne and pimples, known as youvana pitikas in ayurveda. The cream also helps in removal of dark circles, pigments, scars and stretch marks. While saffron reduces dark pigments, sandalwood has an antimicrobial property that heals many skin ailments. Turmeric nourishes the skin and gives it a healthy natural glow. It also acts as natural antibiotic and enhances natural tone of skin.”
