The case of murder of a 35-year-old man reported about 40 days ago in Othakadai police station limits near here was solved with the arrest of two persons.

Police said that Pradeep (35) of Arapalayam was married to Vigneswari, daughter of Murugan, seven years ago. However, there was trouble between the couple and they were living separately. In a bid to patch up the differences, Murugan had taken many steps, but failed.

Hence, Murugan had allegedly plotted to eliminate his son-in-law.

In a bid to execute it, Pradeep was taken out by some mercenaries, hired by Murugan. After beating him to death, the gang had set fire to the body before abandoning it. After the investigation was handed over to the OCIU (Organised Crime Intelligence Unit), the case gathered momentum and OCIU zeroed in on the suspects. A senior officer said that Murugan, who figured in many tarpaulin missing cases, had “contacts” with some anti-socials. One such person identified as Kartik and his three accomplices from Jaihindpuram were behind the heinous crime, it came to light.

The issue actually unfolded after an accomplice of Karthik was heard narrating in a TASMAC bar about Pradeep episode to his friends. An informant had ‘tipped’ the police who unravelled the case and arrested Murugan and Kartik with a clinching evidence, while they are on the lookout for four others, he added.
