Sanjay Dutt says PM is deflecting people’s attention

TIRUNELVELI

After coming to power by making tall poll promises, the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre had miserably failed on all fronts and hence it was deflecting the people’s attention by raising sensitive issues, said All India Congress Committee secretary and in-charge of Tamil Nadu Sanjay Dutt.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mr. Sanjay Dutt said Mr. Modi, who failed to fulfil the poll promises he made in 2014 like generating two crore employment opportunities a year, controlling inflation and fuel price, ushering in corruption-free, transparent governance, etc., was following seven ‘guiding principles’ of unleashing fear, maladministration, data manipulation, divide and rule policy, making false statements, politicising war against terror and silencing dissents to deflect the people’s attention.

Demonetisation that forced the people to stand in long queues in front of banks and ATM centres and introduction of multiple GST rates made thousands of small and medium entrepreneurs into labourers. Rampant corruption had come out in Rafale deal.

“After the end of his five-year rule, his report card shows clearly that Mr. Modi has failed miserably on all fronts... As people review his pathetic progress report, Mr. Modi diverts their attention by raking up emotive issues, manipulates data, politicises anti-terrorism operations for political mileage, submits false affidavits even in the Supreme Court and ruthlessly silences critics,” he noted.

The Hindu for having unearthed the facts concerning ‘Rafale deal’, Mr. Sanjay Dutt said the government, after informing the Supreme Court that the documents pertaining to the deal had been stolen, had retracted from its affidavit. “It shows that the government is making futile attempts to bury its corruption,” he charged.

Mr. Sanjay Dutt said leaders of the parties allied with the Congress would participate in Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s election rally to be held at Scott Christian College grounds in Nagercoil on Wednesday (March 13).
