Minister launches ambulance for animals

Minister for Khadi and Village Industries Board G. Baskaran has inaugurated mobile medical ambulance service for animals in the district.

Flagging off the ambulance at a function presided over by Collector J. Jayakanthan here on Wednesday, the Minister said public could avail the ambulance service by calling toll free number – 1962.

The service would go a long way in helping farmers and beneficiaries of free milch animals and goats in protecting their cattle heads and livestock, he said.

The ambulance would be available for medical assistance for 12 hours a day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and veterinary surgeons would provide treatment at the doorsteps of cattle owners, he said.

The service would be of great help to those living in villages, who could not bring their cattle to the veterinary dispensaries, he said.

Later, the Minister distributed grass cutting machines at 75% subsidy to those rearing milch animals and seeds at 100% subsidy for raising different types of green fodder.

Animal Husbandry Joint Director Murugesan, Deputy Director Rajathilagam and Assistant Directors Mohamed Khan, Ramkumar and Veterinary surgeon Rajesh were among others present in the function.
