In a bid to take the State government schemes to more people and create awareness of the same, an LED (Light Emitting Diode) vehicle was flagged off by Minister for Cooperation ‘Sellur’ K. Raju and Collector L. Subramanian from Periyar bus stand here on Saturday.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had recently sanctioned LED vans to 32 districts at a cost of Rs 20.80 crore so that the vehicles could be utilised to create awareness of State schemes and propagate the achievements of the government.

The van is equipped with an overhead LED screen which will play audio visual presentations and short films about the various government schemes. It will be stationed at public places with a large footfall of people such as railway stations and bus stands. The LED van is also equipped with DTH and wi-fi facilities. Member of Parliament R. Goplakrishnan and Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa were present.
