Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister K. S. Eshwarappa visited the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here on Friday and offered prayers to the presiding deity.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader was accompanied by his family members, including his wife and children. Mr. Eshwarappa arrived at the temple at around 8.30 a.m. and spent around one-and-a-half hours offering prayers to all the deities in the temple.

A huge posse of police personnel was deployed on Friday morning in and around the temple premises, which already has a tight security cordon with a network of CCTV cameras deployed at strategic locations. Vehicular movement is already banned in the four immediate streets surrounding the temple.
