Huge catch of fake IMFL bottles

The Dindigul Prohibition Enforcement Wing on Saturday seized 1,440 bottles of fake Indian-made Foreign Liquor, reportedly brought from Kanniyakumari, at Dindigul and arrested three persons.

The police identified the accused as R. Tulsi of Thuckalay in Kanniyakumari district, R. Karthik from Thoothukudi and Ramesh Kumar of Anaipatti in Dindigul district.

Acting on a tip-off from its Additional Superintendent of Police, Suhasini, the PEW team, led by its Sub-Inspector of Police, K. Alaguraj, conducted a vehicle check on the Dindigul-Palani Bypass road on Saturday forenoon. The team intercepted an SUV and found that 1,440 bottles of fake IMFL being smuggled into the city.

The police said that the accused had blended the liquor and filled in bottles with fake labels.

All the three have been remanded to judicial custody and the vehicle and bottles seized. Further investigations are on.
