The young couple of Chankya Jain and C. Disha, were worried when the woman lost her purse. A teacher in a local school, the woman, had not only lost Rs. 5,475, but also a few debit and credit cards, PAN card and driving licence on Tuesday night.
The purse had fallen off while riding a two-wheeler.
The couple, which had lost hope of getting back the money, started praying for the valuable documents atleast to be returned to them.

In this backdrop, the woman got a call from the Inspector of Police (Traffic-South) on Wednesday.
A 30-year-old man, T. Ramar Pandi, who had accidentally spotted the purse lying on the road near Periyar bus stand tried to locate its owner. However, when his efforts went in vain, he handed it over to the Inspector.
Mr. Palaniappan, traced the owner with a parcel service operator receipt left in the purse and informed them about the lost-and-found purse.

“Having known the pain of shedding blood and sweat to earn money, I thought it was somebody’s hard-earned money and wanted to return it to them,” Mr. Pandi, who loads and unloads scrap materials for his livelihood, said. The father of two girl children was not tempted to keep the money to himself.
On Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, Sanjay Mathur, honoured Mr. Pandi for his honesty with a gift.
And the couple were overwhelmed by the loadman’s gesture and happily gave the entire money of Rs. 5,475 to him.
“Mr. Pandi told me that his monthly income was around Rs. 3,000 to Rs.4000. He is a good human being with a good heart to have returned the money which was much more than his monthly income. We decided that the money should go to him,” Mr. Chankya, a businessman said.
The young man is happy that his wife did not have to face the difficulty of going all the way back to Madhya Pradesh to get fresh copies of the driving licence and the PAN card.
