MADURAI

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday summoned the Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police after a policeman complained that he was issued a charge memo 10 months after being acquitted of the same charges. Justice D. Krishnakumar summoned the SP to appear before the court during the next hearing.

In his contempt petition, K. Thangamuthu of Sivakasi, a Grade I constable, said that a criminal case was filed against him based on a false complaint in 2013. The trial court, Judicial Magistrate II, Sattur, hearing the charges of rioting and voluntarily causing hurt, acquitted him in the criminal case.
