HC seeks report on selection of notaries

August 05, 2019 10:40 pm | Updated 10:40 pm IST - Madurai

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday asked the Ministry of Law and Justice to submit a report on the mode of selection of candidates to the post of Notary Public in the State.

Justice R. Suresh Kumar sought the report in the petition filed by advocate R. Ravi Kumar of Madurai, who complained that among the 748 candidates selected for the post, no candidate was under the differently abled category.

A differently abled candidate himself, the petitioner sought to quash the Centre’s notification for appointment issued on February 21, as no candidate under the differently abled category was chosen, which, he said, went against the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
