Good education simply doesn’t mean high marks, but a mix of forward thinking and idealistic approach towards the future and complete understanding of what we are taught at educational institutions, said Justice B. Rajendran at ‘Athulyam,’ annual day celebrations of Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Velammal Vidyalaya, here on Wednesday.

Encouraging the students to adopt good reading habits, Mr. Justice Rajendran said positive changes had to be inculcated to contribute towards the growth of society.

The chief guest, Revwathy Kailairajan, Dean of Government Rajaji Hospital and Madurai Medical College, motivated the students to become all-rounders, excelling in academics and extra-curricular activities.

The students put up a cultural programme with music and dance performances as well as skits in English and Tamil.

Chairman of Velammal Educational Trust M.V. Muthuramalingam distributed awards to faculty members and non-teaching staff for their service to the institutions.

Prizes were also given to school toppers in the public exams and academic proficiency winners for the current year by Mr. Justice Rajendran and Ms. Revwathy Kailairajan.
