Four held for selling obscene films

Four persons were arrested on charges of selling obscene films, songs and other objectionable clippings through mobile phones here on Sunday.

It was said that during routine rounds in the South Gate limit, a police team found two youth running on noticing them. After a chase, the duo was caught.

They confessed that they were selling obscene clippings along with their friends and other associates. Inquiries revealed that they used gadgets to download the pictures and forwarded them to people for a sum. After interrogations, the police arrested R. Vijayakumar (25) of CMR Road, S. Manoharan (36) of Mahalipatti, J. Stephen (24) of Muthuramalingapuram and P. Ramalingam (24) of Solai Alagupuram. They were produced before a court.

250 CDs seized

Police seized 250 pirated CDs, including the latest release of actor Vijay from some outlets in the city on Sunday. Police said that following information that CDs were available for a price at some shops in the Meenakshi Bazaar area, a team conducted searches on the premises. Based on the confession, the illegally stored CDs were seized. A case under video piracy is being registered and further inquiry is on.
