In an effort to promote business relations between micro, small and medium industries (SME) and large-scale buyers, Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) is organising the fifth edition of three-day buyer-seller meet that will begin on January 23.
The ‘outsourcing fair’ that would have 100 stalls — 30 government-owned and 70 small and medium business — would focus on engineering equipment, rubber and plastic industries, said B. Muruganantham, Secretary of MADITSSIA. Representatives from the textile and food industry will also be present.
A total of 20 major buyers like Heavy Vehicle Factory, Ordnance Factory, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Aavin and Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant will also be present.

“Small-business owners may not be able to meet top brass of large-scale companies. This provides an interactive platform,” said Mr. Muruganantham.
According to him, the main purpose is to change the city to industrial hub.
“Through the expo, large-scale manufactures and public sector undertakings will come to understand the amount of investment in our city and adjoining districts. The potential of SMEs in southern Tamil Nadu is still not tapped,” he added.

A.RM. Ramasamy, Chairman of the buyer-seller meet, said that the initiative would be useful for college students. Representatives from six Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will attend the expo and take part in the technical sessions on product purchasing and procurement procedures hosted by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
