Communist Party of India has fielded its former Tenkasi MP P. Lingam in Srivilliputtur Assembly constituency and a new face, S. Senthil Kumar in Aruppukottai constituency.
The party had won the Srivilliputtur constituency in the last two consecutive elections.
While T. Ramasamy had won in 2006, K. Ponnupandi retained it for the party in 2011. However, Ponnupandi recently joined the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra KAzhagam.

With good base in the rural pockets of Srivilliputtur constituency, the party has chosen the former MP of Tenkasi (under which Srivilliputtur Assembly constituency falls). However, he failed in his second attempt from the same Parliamentary constituency. He was also the president of Muthusamyapuram panchayat.
A graduate, Mr. Lingam is known for his simplicity. Though he resides in Rajapalayam, his native is Kansapuram in Srivilliputtur and his wife belongs to Watrap in the same constituency.
He said that he would work for the uplift of the farmers and strive to re-open the sick cooperative spinning mill in Srivilliputtur.

Aruppukottai
In Aruppukottai constituency, the party has put in fray a young advocate Mr. Senthil Kumar (31). He was associated with party students wing, All India Students’ Federation and was its State president for six years.
He is currently the Aruppukottai Town secretary and State executive committee member. Mr. Senthil Kumar promises that he would spend the MLA Constituency Development Fund in a proper way without any pilferage. Voters would continue to have easy access to him and would strive to bring industrial units to the rural constituency.
He is pitched against two former Ministers – K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) and Vaigai Selvam (AIADMK).
