Chithirai Exhibition begins in Madurai

The annual Chithirai Exhibition was inaugurated by M. Rajaram, Secretary of Information Technology and Public Relations Department, at Tamukkam Grounds here on Sunday.

The 45-day fair draws thousands of visitors every year and is one of the highlights of the Chithirai festival. On Sunday, stall-keepers were busy setting up their stalls. An entertainment and fun zone is also being set up at the Tamukkam Grounds. The government pavilion includes exhibition and sale of handloom products, display of flora and fauna in the State, and enclosures of Education Department, Social Welfare Department and State Highways Department.

Among various pavilions are 20 private stalls and 33 government stalls. The ticket price for adults is Rs.15 and for children it is Rs.10.

Collector L. Subramanian and Director of Public Relations Department Mahesan Kasirajan were present at the inauguration ceremony.
