Cancellation of movie screening leads to stone pelting on bus

Windscreen of a State-owned bus was smashed when some persons pelted stones at the vehicle at Tirunagar on Friday.

Police suspect that some irate fans of actor Vijay who had gathered outside a cinema hall could have thrown stones at the bus after seeing a notice announcing the cancellation of screening of the actor’s new release ‘Thalaiva’. The police dispersed the fans. he movie was scheduled for release on Friday.

S.K.R.Karnan of Seethaparpanallur in Tirunelveli district had approached a court in Chennai seeking to stop the release of the film which, he said, shows in poor light his grandfather S.S.Kandasamy Sait alias SSK and his father S.K.Ramasamy alias SKR.

Meanwhile, several cinema houses in Chennai had received bomb threats against the release of the film.
