The ‘Vallal’ Alagappa Chettiar Group of Educational Institutions have so far produced more than 30 lakh graduates in various disciplines, Mr Ramanathan Vairavan, Chairman of the Alagappa Group of Educational has said.
Addressing the ‘Alagappar Thiruvizha’, organised in connection with the 110th birth anniversary of Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar here recently, he said the great philanthropist had established various educational institutions to provide primary, secondary, professional and vocational education to scores of people, especially to those who hailed from rural areas.

“These institutions have produced more than 30 lakh graduates since their inceptions,” he said at the ‘thiruvizha’ organised to reminiscence the contributions of the philanthropist in the field of education. Photo exhibition of Dr. Alagappa Chettiar, book exhibition, entertainment and fun rides were organised in the ‘thiruvizha’.
Dance drama of epic Silapathigaram , presented in the ‘dance ballet’ by ‘Natya Perarasu’ Madurai R. Muralidaran, an accomplishment dancer and choreographer, was the highlight of the festival. The one of the five epics was brought alive in a giant LED digital screen vivid reality and grandeur.
‘Kalaimamani’ Uma Muralidaran as Kannagi, Kaviya Muralidaran as Madhavi and Muralidharan as Kovalan, Shivakumar as Neduchezian, the Pandya King and Devi Alamelu Vairavan as the Pandya Queen infused lives to the characters with their breathtaking performances.

About 7,500 people attended the festival. A Souvenir was released on the occasion and industrialists P.L.A. Padikkasu and V. Sethuraman received the first copies. The artistes, teachers and technicians were honoured with awards and shields.
