To make more people aware of the life of the visionary through the film

Chinmaya Mission-Madurai is organising a special screening of ‘On a quest’, a biopic on Swami Chinmayananda in two theatres in the city on Saturday.

The biopic, directed by R.S. Prasanna, a Kollywood film-maker and former student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, will trace the life of Swami Chinmayananda, whose devotees founded Chinmaya Mission.

Addressing a press meet, Swami Sivayogananda, Acharya of Chinmaya Mission-Madurai, said that the biopic would trace the life of Swami Chinmayananda as a freedom fighter, the seeking atheist, the student and the missionary.

“He has spearheaded a global cultural movement which has popularised the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads, and the Chinmaya Mission has been spreading his work through Vedantic teachings, publications and social service projects across the world,” he explained.

“We have sought to spread the message of his mission and make more people aware of the life of the visionary through screening the film. There will be two screenings at Ambika Theatre and Mookambika Theatre each from 8 a.m. onwards on Sunday,” Swami Sivayogananda said.

Art Director Thotta Tharani essayed the role of the elderly Swami Chinmayananda in the biopic, he further said. The mission is planning organising more screenings of the movie based on the response they receive on Sunday.
