Bail denied in bomb blast case

April 19, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - MADURAI:

The Madras High Court Bench here on Friday dismissed a bail application moved by Syed Sulaiman Sait (33), the prime accused in a bus bomb blast case booked by Karimedu police here after two low intensity bombs reportedly blasted inside two government buses parked near Arapalayam bus stand here on September 30.

Justice G. Chockalingam rejected the plea following stiff opposition by the police to granting the relief to the petitioner.

Though conceding that the investigation in the case had been completed, the police objected to grant of bail on the ground that “serious threat is existing in and around Madurai areas during the present State Assembly Election 2016.”
