They made a representation in 2010

Over 600 directly-recruited Sub-Inspectors of Police of 2008 batch, deployed in Armed Reserve (AR) and Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) battalion, have been waiting for a year for their conversion to taluk police or law and order duty posting.

Out of 757 SIs who underwent training in 2008, 144 were taken for Law and Order duty; 453 for AR and around 160 for TSP.

“The Sub-Inspectors of our batch made a representation seeking conversion to the taluk police in 2010. However, the Director-General of Police rejected our petitions stating that we had not completed five years of service in Armed Reserve then,” an SI of Armed Reserve said on Sunday.

As per the Government Order No. 1598 of Home Department dated, November 05, 1997, all the SIs of AR and TSP were eligible for conversion to Taluk police provided they were graduates, have completed five years of service in AR/TSP, not completed 40 years of service and should have an unblemished service record. “We became eligible on the service condition of five years in January 2013. In the last one year, many of us made representations to the office of Director-General of Police. But, nothing has moved so far,” he added.
