Alumni and villagers come forward to improve Madurai school

Alumni of CSI Primary School and villagers of Puduthamaraipatti near Madurai bringing donated articles in a procession on Thursday.

Alumni of CSI Primary School and villagers from Puduthamaraipatti here have came together to provide additional infrastructure to the school. The modern equipment contributed by them will replace the the outdated infrastructure at the school.

In a bid to emulate private schools in infrastructure, the alumni have contributed six computers and a projector to set up a smart computer lab at the more than 80-year-old school. Chairs and tables, plates, table fans, mats were also contributed to the school.

The donated articles were brought to the school in a procession to the drum beats of the village youth. Copies of Thirukkural were given to the students.

“With the mushrooming of private schools, student strength at the school is going down. We hope to attract more students to the school with the modern infrastructure,” said V. Chellam, an alumnus from the village.

Another resident of Puduthamaraipatti D. Chezian said though there were political representatives at the village, the event was apolitical and held for the welfare of the school and its students.
