The National Insurance Company Limited has launched an accident care policy that provides coverage for hospitalisation and death benefits.
The new insurance product, ‘Nava Raksha’ with personal accident cover of Rs.1 lakh, comes in collaboration with Vadamalayan Hospitals here. Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan launched the policy on Wednesday and handed the insurance card to those who opted to have the accident cover.
V.Ponnusamy, divisional manager, National Insurance Company, said nine types of protection were available to accident victims with a maximum coverage of Rs.1 lakh. Various features, including loss of limbs, partial and permanent disability and death of the policy holder in an accident, had been incorporated in the ‘Nava Raksha’ policy. Hospitalisation expenses will be borne by the insurance company while treatment would be taken care of by Vadamalayan Hospitals. The annual premium was Rs.300 and the policy would be helpful as road accidents were on the rise, he said.

Regional Manager S.Venugopalan and Assistant Manager V.Veeramanigandan spoke about the importance of taking insurance policy for accident care. V.Pugalagiri, Chairman and Managing Director, Vadamalayan Hospitals, urged students to get insurance cover in view of the increasing number of accidents.
“It comes to just 82 paise per day, but the family will get relief if the insurance cover is available in the event of an accident,” he added.
