Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao on Friday announced that a monthly farmers’ grievance meeting will be held at taluk level on the first Tuesday of every month apart from the monthly meeting happening presently at the Collectorate.

During the farmers’ grievance meeting at the Collectorate on Friday, a section of farmers suggested that a similar meeting be held at taluk-level so that local issues could be addressed there.

“It is difficult for farmers from all parts of the district to come here. Since a large number of farmers come, not all of them get to present their issues,” one of the farmers said.

Acknowledging the rationale behind the demand, Mr. Rao immediately announced that a meeting would be held at taluk level chaired by the respective tahsildars. He said that senior taluk-level officials from all departments, including respective Assistant Directors from Agriculture and Horticulture departments, Assistant Engineers from Agricultural Engineering and Public Works departments would be attending the meeting.

“The farmers can present the grievances that can be addressed at taluk-level there. If they are unresolved, they can obviously be presented at the monthly meeting at Collectorate,” he said.
