Separate wards would be set up in all Government Hospitals, including Primary Health Centres, to deal with monsoon related illnesses, according to Director of Public Health, Dr. S. Elango.

These wards would mainly deal with the seasonal outbreak of fever and other diseases usually seen at this time of the year with the onset of the rains, he told reporters here on Sunday.

He said a sum of Rs. 3 crore would be spent this year for prevention of chikungunya and all drinking water tanks would be cleaned on a monthly basis. Also, 10 temporary workers will be recruited in each Panchayat union to undertake mosquito control measures, such as fogging.
