The farmers in Theni district too heaved a sigh of relief as the catchment of Periyar dam received rain for the past three days. With poor storage (110.8 feet) in the dam, the PWD officials hesitated to release water for irrigation of first crop in double-cropping areas in Cumbum Valley.
