Old age pension to be sent by electronic money order

Collector M. Jayaraman handing over cheque for old age pension and the benificiarys' database to Tirunelveli District Senior Suprendent of Posts Saravanan at Collectorate on Monday.

Following the success of the system of sending monthly assistance for the differently-abled by electronic money order, Collector M. Jayaraman launched the scheme of sending old age pension to the beneficiaries through this method that ensures the disbursal of the aid to the individuals within 24 hours.

Recently designed

As the disbursal got delayed due to manpower shortage, the National Informatics Centre here, had recently designed a software for sending monthly assistance to the differently-abled through electronic money order.

Apart from providing the Department of Posts the database of the beneficiaries, the assistance as well as the commission for sending the aid was also handed over in advance so that it reaches the beneficiary in a day.

Tested efficiency

After the efficiency of this new system, introduced in the district for the first time in the State, was evaluated and found to be effective, the scheme had now been extended to disbursal of old age pension also.

Launching the system of sending old age pension through electronic money order at the Collectorate on Monday,

Mr. Jayaraman handed over the database of the beneficiaries and the cheque for Rs. 1.97 crore (towards assistance and commission) to Tirunelveli District Senior Superintendent of Posts A. Saravanan in the presence of District Revenue Officer P. Ramana Saraswathi, NIC Director Devarajan.
