New Controller of Examinations

The Syndicate meeting of Madurai Kamaraj University was held here on Saturday in the presence of K. Ganesan, Principal Secretary to Department of Higher Education and R.Karpaga Kumaravel, Vice-Chancellor.

Various decisions with regard to appointments and college affiliation were taken at the meeting. M. Rajyakodi of P. M. T. College in Usilampatti has been appointed as the university's new Controller of Examinations for a three-year term.

The MKU Syndicate also gave its approval for appointing Shobhana Bhai as the Director of Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC) in the university for a five-year term. She was associated with the EMMRC in MKU sometime back and is presently based in New Delhi.

According to senior varsity officials, the meeting of Selection Committee took place on Saturday and later the candidates were interviewed for the posts of Controller of Examinations and the Director of EMMRC. “The Higher Education Secretary was present in the meetings and MKU Syndicate approved the appointments,” officials said.

The Syndicate members also gave approval to Nazia College of Arts and Science, a new college being established under MKU jurisdiction. This college sought affiliation and it was approved in the meeting. Six Assistant Professors were appointed to various departments of the university under the Eleventh Plan of University Grants Commission.

Selection meetings/ interviews for the new Assistant Professors were held during the past few days and the Syndicate gave its consent. Appointments include new faculty members for Plant Biotechnology, Computer Science and Director of Physical Education.

The Syndicate also gave its consent for allotting space to Anna University of Technology-Madurai at its Directorate of Distance Education city campus on Alagarkoil Road here on a temporary basis.
