Madurai Kamaraj varsity to start a University college at Theni

The Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) would start a University College in Theni district as per the guidelines of the Centre, MKU Vice Chancellor R. Karpaga Kumaravel said here on Thursday.

Addressing the academic council meeting here, he said the university had appointed 89 Assistant Professors and there was vacancy of 14 more.

He said 51 Associate Professors would be selected by a Teachers Recruitment Steering Committee. The university also planned to appoint 11 Assistant Professors exclusively for directorate of Distance Education.

He also assured that non-teaching staff vacancies would be filled shortly.

The University also planned to deposit an additional Rs. 50 crore in the pension scheme, he said.
