Lightning kills 2 near Madurai

Two persons were struck dead by lightning and another seriously injured at Tirumangalam, 30 Km from here late last evening.

Police said an ex-serviceman and two others had gone for a walk along a four lane road when there was a sudden heavy downpour. They took shelter under a tree which was struck by lightning, killing two of them on the spot.

The injured person has been hospitalised.

A cow and calf grazing in the area were also struck dead by lightning.
