An Indian gaur calf, aged around one year, was killed in a road accident on Natham-Alagarkoil Road at Eramanaickanpatti pass near Natham in the early hours on Monday.
Alagarkoil range forest officials said that an unidentified vehicle knocked it down and sped away. The carcass was buried after a post-mortem. The animal might have migrated from reserved forest in search of food and water in the early hours.
