City Police have arrested a youth, D. Muthuraj (23) of Sudalai Muthu Pillai Street, on charges of stalking and assaulting a girl on Sunday.

Police said that the youth had been following the 21-year-old college girl from East Santhapettai for some time. On Sunday, when the girl and her mother were walking along Kamarajar Salai, the youth had picked a quarrel with the girl, abused and assaulted her.
The police have booked him for assault and under the provisions of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act.
