Ninety five persons, including three women, were arrested and remanded when they tried to stage a rail roko here on Wednesday in support of the High Court advocates who are on an indefinite fast for making Tamil official language of High Court.
However, Judicial Magistrate Uma Maheswari granted bail to three Law College students, a woman family head and three senior citizens. Order on bail for others would be issued on Thursday morning, the magistrate said.
Among those who were sent to judicial custody were five advocates and their supporters from various organisations, including Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam and Popular Front of India, the police said.

The protestors were arrested when they came for rail blockade in small groups. They were prevented from entering the railway station. The city police registered a case against them under Sections 143, 188 and 151 of Indian Penal Code and Section 7 (1) (a) of Criminal Law Amendment Act.
A huge posse of police personnel, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) G. Thenmozhi, was posted on the district court premises.
