Fifty-four laptops out of the 508 ones meant for the freebies scheme for students were reported missing from the office of District Education Officer near Tamukkam here on Thursday. The Tallakulam police said that each laptop cost Rs.15,000 and a case had been registered.
Calf electrocuted
A calf which was straying near Vakkil New Street died after it came in contact with a live electric wire.Pedestrians spotted the animal dead and informed the police.
