“Jagriti yatra inspired youth”

With 480 participants, Jagriti yatra, which started in Mumbai on December 24, arrived here on Wednesday.

The yatra was aimed at inspiring the youth of the country to become job creators and develop enterprise solutions in their respective districts.

Among the participants, who were from 27 States of India and 46 other countries, women accounted for 40 per cent. The idea of the yatra was to cover the length and breadth of the nation and learn about different sectors such as agriculture, health, energy, water sanitation and education. The participants of the yatra, who arrived here by train, listened to a speech at Arvind Eye Hospital. Interacting with them, Aravind Eye Care System Director S. Arvind and Executive Director R.D. Thulasiraj traced the establishment of the hospital, founded by Dr. G. Venkataswamy.

The model of Aravind Eye Care Hospitals had been applauded and become a subject for numerous case studies across the globe, including in premium business schools such Harvard Business School and the IIMs, they said.

The participants appreciated the hospital team for its yeomen service and went around the hospital to know about various activities carried out there.

Over the last nine years, Jagriti yatra had impacted the enterprise landscape of the country significantly by creating future leaders, who believed in ‘building India through enterprise’.

These leaders, 4,000 of them spread across the country, had begun a journey for transforming ‘Middle India’ by collaborating among themselves, said Ashutosh, executive director, Jagriti, in a press release.

The yatra would end at Mumbai on January 8.
