The football magicians from Brazil may now take a backseat. For, football fans in the city and across the State just got another bunch of men in yellow to cheer for.

Unlike the iconic yellow and green jersey of the Brazilians, to slip into which fans have to wait every four years, the one unveiled by legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Monday for his team, Kerala Blasters, in the forthcoming Indian Super League (ISL) will cloak their dreams in yellow every year.

The excitement surrounding the ISL was up by a notch with the release of the jersey and the team anthem with the Kerala Blasters team joining Tendulkar on stage for a glittering event.

The Master Blaster launched the anthem with two simple yet meaningful words from it – “everybody plays” –followed by a request to promote the ‘yellow mein khelo’ campaign.

The theme song captures the passion for football while drawing inspiration from the musical and cultural heritage of Kerala. The anthem was penned by M.M. Sreelekha and sung by actor-singer Kalabhavan Mani.

Tendulkar seemed in no hurry after the launch and found time to spend with the entire squad and motivate them to deliver their best.
