A 75-year-old woman was killed in Cherayi as a wall of her house collapsed on her after continuous rain on Sunday night.

The incident took place at 1.20 a.m. at south of Cherai Beach Junction. The victim, identified as Ambika, had been residing in the house along with her grandson Vishnudas.

The house, erected using hollow bricks and having a thatched roof, could not withstand the heavy rain and gusty wind, which lashed the district on Sunday midnight. The victim’s son and other relatives have been staying in another house nearby. Hearing a loud noise when a wall collapsed on her, her relatives rushed to the spot and found her in the debris.
