Steps to solve water shortage in Cheranalloor

District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareeth has directed Kerala Water Authority officials to take urgent measures to resolve the worsening problem of drinking water shortage in Cheranalloor panchayat.

The collector directed to inter-link pipelines wherever possible to ensure supply of water. A meeting held at the collector's chamber on Saturday decided to make available Rs. 2 lakh from the Local Area Development Fund of Hibi Eden, MLA, and Rs. 3 lakh from the Drought Relief Fund.

A water tanker will be set up on the land possessed by the KWA near Vaadathodu. It was also decided to submit to the State government, a proposal for laying a pipeline from Kalamassery to Cheranalloor through the Container Terminal Road.

The Collector also instructed drinking water supply through mini tanker lorries in all wards of the Cheranalloor panchayat where water shortage was acute.

Cheranalloor grama panchayat president Suresh Babu, panchayat members, and Kerala Water Authority executive engineer Mary were present at the meeting.
