With the ongoing strike of the LPG Bullet Tankers taking its toll on the supply of cooking gas cylinders in the district, oil companies have decided to put in concerted efforts to overcome the crisis.
The decision came at a meeting convened by District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed on Tuesday. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will increase the production of cooking gas. The gas filling plant of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) will function on Sunday as well to fill the cylinders of Indane Gas of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
The meeting observed that the gas filling plants of BPCL and HPCL are unlikely to be affected by the strike to a great extent having on account of their pipeline connection to bring in gas straight from the Kochi Refinery, However, it was not the same in the case of IOC that depends on LPG tankers for the supply of LPG. The arrangement to fill the cylinders of Indane at the plant of HPL had been taken in this context.

Mr. Pareed promised all possible assistance of the district administration to ensure the overtime functioning of LPG filling plants. Assistant Collector Bhandari Swagath Ranvirchand, district supply officer V. Sundaresan, HPCL area sales manager Thajib Bhat, BPCL executive sales manager Sonu C. Babu, IOC area manager Gnanasambandam and sales manager T.V. Sivan attended the meeting.

The decision came at a meeting that Mr. Pareed had with the IOC officials. Mr. Ranvirchand, who is heading the seven-member team looking in to the blast of a cooking gas cylinder in Eloor, was also present.
The Collector urged customers to ensure that the seal, weight, and valve of the cylinder are intact at the time of delivery itself.
