State convention against SilverLine in Kochi on May 7

April 10, 2022 11:34 pm | Updated 11:34 pm IST

A State convention against the SilverLine semi-high-speed railway project will be held here on May 7, under the banner of a collective of organisations from across Kerala that are opposed to the project.

This is to highlight the woes of thousands of people who stand to lose their houses, other buildings and land, apart from the financial and environmental mess that the project would create in the State. It would also stall development of the existing railway corridor. The project will help only real estate and quarry sectors and those who would benefit from the contracts, at huge cost to the State’s environment and financial stability. A meeting of the collective that was held here selected Felix Pulloden as its patron and other office-bearers, says a press release.
