Start-ups begin work at incubation centre

: Eight start-ups working in areas ranging from software and mobile applications to interactive game development and e-commerce launched their operations from the business incubation centre set up by Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) at the Kinfra Park, Kakkanad.

Minister for Industries P.K. Kunhalikutty inaugurated the incubation centre on Thursday and called upon young people to come forward to launch their own enterprises making use of the facilities being offered by the Industries Department.

The Business Incubation Centre was set up as a follow-up action on Young Entrepreneurs’ Summit (YES) held two months ago. “YES was aimed at fostering the growth of entrepreneurship in young minds,” said a press release here.

Satyajeet Rajan, Principal Secretary, Industries and MD, KSIDC welcomed the gathering. He said that eight of the 61 applicants at YES 2014 had been accepted and given space at the new incubation centre, the press release said.

The new incubation centre has 5,000 sq. ft. of space at the Geo Info Centre. KSIDC plans to open new incubation centres at Angamaly, Kozhikode and Kannur.
