Kerala Congress (M) leader P.C. George, MLA, on Tuesday alleged that investigation into the solar scam is being conducted targeting Saritha and Biju Radhakrishnan with the aim of letting off the big guns involved.

Deposing before the G. Sivarajan Commission inquiring into the solar scam, Mr. George said that he believed the allegation raised by Saritha in her letter that chief minister had been paid money.

He said that the allegation that he had gone to visit Saritha in jail was baseless. The visit was to meet the arrested women workers of Chavara-based industrial unit. Mr. George said that he came to know about Saritha’s presence in the jail only after he reached there but didn’t meet her then.

Mr. George alleged that Tenny Joppan, who was a staff at the chief minister’s office, had contacts with Saritha. He, however, said that he had no information about any payment made by Saritha to Joppan. Mr. George said that he would state only matters he was sure about.

He said that the letter written by Saritha in jail was the original one and that was produced by her at the media conference. That letter had the name of Jose K. Mani and it could not be changed now, he said.
